what is lotus seed?

 Lotus seeds also called as Makhana, Fox nuts. Lotus seeds are widely cultivated throughout Asia and often used in traditional forms of medicine to treat various conditions.

 

 
How to use lotus seed?
 
      As the seeds are already cleaned before packing there is no need to wash or rinse the
seed before using, you should never do that washing them ,will make them soggy and 
unpalatable.
Lotus seed gravy/ Phool Makhana gravy/ makes a delicious side dish.

How to make lotus seed gravy?

  • Ingredients:
  • Lotus seed 1 cup
  • Tomato 2 numbers
  • Onion 1 number
  • Garlic clove 4 numbers
  • Ginger 1/2 inch
  • Cashew 5 numbers
  • Red chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Butter 1 table spoon
  • Salt and oil as need

How to prepare lotus seed gravy?

 

  • Put the pan on the stove add 1 teaspoon ghee and roasted the lotus seed.
  • Take blender, add tomato, garlic, ginger, and chew grind them like paste.
 
  • The same pan add oil, when oil is heated add cumin seeds, let it splutter.
  • Then add chopped onion and saute it ,it turns golden color add grind the tomato paste.

Once paste raw smell came out add salt, red chili powder , turmeric, coriander powder,  cumin powder, garam masala and mixed it well. once masala cooked  well add lotus seeds and mixed it .after 2 minutes turn off the flame . Add butter.

  • Yummy lotus seed gravy is ready. Best combo of rice, chapati, roti, and naan. Another gravy Mushroom gravy
