Ingredients

  • Lotus seed (Makhana) – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1 (chopped)
  • Tomato – 1 -2
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Garlic 4-5 cloves
  • cashews – 1 tablespoon
  • Curd or cream – 1/2 cup (for richness)
  • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala -1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil or butter – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – to taste

How to make

Step 1

  • Take 1 cup lotus seeds

2.Roast the lotus seeds

  • Heat 1 teaspoon butter in a pan and dry roast the lotus seeds for 5 minutes until crispy. set aside.

3 In a blunder add tomato, ginger, garlic ,cashew and blend them.

4.Prepare the gravy

  • Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.

5.Add paste

  • Add blended paste and saute until the ram smell disappears.
  • Add red chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder, cook until oil separates.

6.Lotus seeds

  • Add the roasted lotus seed to the gravy and mix well.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in curd or cream and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Springle garam masala and mix well.

Serve

  • Serve hot with chapati, naan or rice
