Vegetable vada
Vegetable vada is the South Indian style snack recipe . This recipe is very tasty and packed with protein and fiber. Soaking chana dal enhances its texture and nutrition, this vada is a perfect tea time snack and breakfast. they usually make vada with urad dal or chana dal. I have made it with chana dal and vegetables. This vada is great evening snack for children. Even children who do not vegetable will eat it well. Ingredients
- Chana -1 cup (split bengal gram)- soaked for 3-4 hours
- Mixed vegetables -1/2 cup (grated carrots,finely chopped cabbage, beans)
- Onion- 1 small ( chopped )
- Garlic cloves – 2( minced )
- Ginger 1 inch – ( grated )
- Green chilis -2 (chopped )
- cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder- 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder-1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala-i/2 teaspoon
- Coriander leaves (chopped )
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
How to make vada:

1.Soak Chana Dal
- Wash and soak chana dal for 3-4 hours. Drain and keep aside.
2.Grind the chana dal
- Grind the soaked chana dal coarsely without adding much water. The batter should be thick and slightly grainy.
3.Mix vegetables and spices
- Transfer the ground dal to bowl. Add chopped vegetables,onion,garlic,ginger,green chilis,cumin seeds, turmeric powder,red chili powder,garam masala, coriander leaves and salt mix well.
4.Shape the vadas
- The small portion of the mixture, shape into round patties, and flatten slightly.
5.Fry until golden
Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry vadas om medium heat until golden brown and crispy both sides.
6.Drain and serve
Remove from oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Serve with tea for an evening snacks.
